There is no one officially recognised dance form in SA, no national dance, no universal mode of bodily expression. In SA, dance belongs to the street. And the dance styles practiced in the streets are as diverse as the people who live in them. Red Bull Beat Battle is a showcase of SA street dance, from Hip Hop to iSbhujwa.
We have seen some new styles of dance, some outrageous flips, whips and everything in between. Crews threw down like never before in the qualifying rounds of Red Bull Beat Battle 2012.
