Jordy's next heats were impressive which forced the other competitors to give chace. In the heat previous, Slater had changed equipment, and it was noted that with the swell direction altered, and not washing down the point as in previous days but more into the surfers, different boards were required to compensate for the change. It made no difference, because Jordy was rampant.
