POC: PROPHETS OF DA CITY
By far the pioneers of African Hip-Hop, Prophets of da City revolutionized the status of hip-hop in South Africa. POC have represented S.A. to the extremes.
Formed in 1989, the group has gone and achieved something beyond their wildest dreams. POC has produced one of the best scratch DJs in South Africa: READY D.
POC has performed all over the world and also performed for dignitaries the world over. They brought break-dancing and hope to the people in the Cape flats. They have performed with the likes of Joan Armatrading and Quincy Jones, to name but a few.In between touring and recording Ghetto Code they worked on new groups here at home. The first of these groups was SKEEM released AUGUST 1996 and it went GOLD. The group featured Ishmael of Prophets of da City. Another group was BRASSE VANNIE KAAP which featured Ready D of POC ( as Boeta D ), BVKs debut self-titled album was released in April 1997.
