About the artists:
CULOE DE SONG has been on an ascending trajectory since he started DJing in Durban in the mid-2000s. Following his forays into clubland, Culoe began exploring production. Signing to Black Coffee’s Soulistic Music and making it onto a number of compilations marked Culoe out as a special talent – one bright enough to represent South Africa at the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy in Barcelona, Spain, in 2008. Since then his career has exploded with multiple South African award nominations, a gig at the highly prestigious Sonar festival in Spain and releases on Ame's influential Innervisions label as well as Japan's Mule Musiq imprint. Still at a relatively young age, Culoe occupies a level most South African musicians take decades to attain. Constant international demand for his dj and production talents and a new album, Elevation, on the horizon featuring contributions from legends like Patrick Chappell, Ternielle Nelson and acclaimed US singer Kenny Bobien look set to keep the throttle high on his incredible journey to the top.
JULLIAN GOMES grew up in the Republic of South Africa on a steady diet of Portuguese chicken, soul, latin and kwaito before discovering house music. Since his first gig in 2003, he's released music with G.Family on South African labels Soulcandi and House Afrika followed by records on Realtone, Earthrumental, Seasons limited and Deepershades Recordings. In 2010 he stepped off the shores of his home continent to participate at the Red Bull Music Academy which took place in London. Now rolling with UK vet Atjazz and his record company, Jullian is on an eternal quest to widen his musical horizons with shuffled claps and electronic soul.
