Oppikoppi Day 1 | Welcome Sweet Things

There are an expected 20 000 revellers at this year’s fest, which was evident by the crowd trickling over the Koppi down to the Red Bull Studio Live Stage before the sound system was even turned on.

The day kicked off with the Red Bull Studio Introspectrum, which comprised of the Studio Team playing a selection of tracks produced at the Studio (think Christian Tiger School’s “Carlton Banks” and/or Das Kapital’s “Flight Of The Robin”).

By 19:30 it was clear that the night was going to be one for the books with an ever-growing crowd kicking up a dust storm. The night steadily built from sublime Deep-House courtesy of Phat Jack and world-class Afro-House from SA’s beloved Oskido to driving, lifting Techno from the likes of Monique Pascall and T-Minus.

This is the third time round for the Red Bull Studio Live at Oppikoppi, and after two insane, bar-setting years, festival goers are baying for sonic blood in anticipation for the rest of the weekend’s Red Bull Studio Live revelry.
