NICK DE WIT IS ALL GOOD

FMX champ, Nick de Wit, recently took a stab at redesigning his helmet and logo. He’s takes us through his thought process and how he came up with the final designs.

I first thought of the design for my helmet when I saw the movie "Art of flight". I was thinking of many different designs but when I saw the helicopter that was it. The chaos of all the Red Bull logos just appealed to me and I thought that would look sick on a helmet. A friend of mine helped me with the layout and made sure I got the affect I was looking for. I think it came out pretty much perfect.

Along with the new helmet design, I also wanted to come up with a new logo for myself. This was pretty difficult as we were starting with a blank page. There are so many different things I wanted to use, but it probably would have looked like a Christmas tree. So I chose a few important elements and then mixed them together. I thought the Red Bull logo, the sprocket, the tyre tread and the outline of Africa all mixed into my name would look good.

The Red Bull logo is important because without them my career would have been virtually impossible, the sprocket and tyre tread resemble the connection between me and my bike and the outline of Africa resembles where I’m from how proud I am to be an African.

The Red Bull team think the designs look pretty sick. Let us know what you think of  them in the comment section below.
