Mix n Blend n Crosby Jump For Joy

Mix n Blend are some of the most ambitious and meticulous DJ / producer crews in Cape Town. Born out of an inspirational love for the music of African Dope over the past decade and a persistent drive to become part of the label's stable, they are now in many respects African Dope's flagship crew. Their debut album, Look Mom No Hands, is a nursery-school-playground-meets-peak-dancefloor journey, showcasing the best of modern bass music such as glitch-hop, dubstep and drum n bass. With sing-along hits such as "Tantrum" featuring EJ Von Lyrik and "Outta Town" with Crosby, the album has found its way onto many a DJs hard-drive and earned them two SAMA nominations.

Since then the boys have kept pushing their signature sound and energy with a Dubstep release on San Francisco's Muti Music, produced with fellow Cape Tonian master of bass, Narch called "Got My". They unfortunately lost one of their members recently, the enigmatic Dank from Sedge Warbler, leaving them a duo rather than a trio but they have expanded their live show to include EJ and Crosby, playing around the country and in Reunion and wiling up the masses at Earthdance and Rocking the Daisies.

Next up on their musical calendar is a solid drum n bass EP for their mother label African Dope. Its designed for the ever manic local drum n bass scene and combines the current trend of the genre with Mix n Blend's jazz-funk-hop-electronica. One of the tracks on the single was recorded and produced at the studio with our resident deejay, Crosby. Entitled 'Joy' it's a slice of jump-up madness guaranteed to get people's feet up in the air. Take a listen and a download to the instrumental version of the track below and then head over to the African Dope shop to buy it by clicking here. ;)
