Marc Marquez and his team GEPA Pictures/Gold & Goose

A sensational 10 wins this season now for Marc Márquez, but as he explains in his blog, this race was even more amazing than the rest of his season.

What a weekend we’ve had! It’s ended well, which is important, but it was a very stressful grand prix for everyone in the team and for me… We were in very bad shape from day one and it has been very hard work.

On Saturday, they even cancelled qualifying and the grid was decided by combining the free practice times. That forced us to come out fighting from behind, from 11th position, but on Sunday the track was dry. That was good news, considering how much wind and rain there had been the previous two days!

But then it did start to rain and they stopped the race. We decided to mount slick tyres because once it stopped raining the wind would dry the track really fast, but when we left, as you probably saw, I made a rookie mistake and hit the ground. I immediately thought that there was no way I was losing the bike… even it took two laps and I didn’t care if I hurt myself – all I cared about was that nothing really bad had happened to the bike. That was important.

'I made a very good start. The rest you saw!'

Seeing the damage to the bike, I decided to approach my pit box because I knew if went to the grid, they couldn’t fix it. I think it was the right decision. Though I had to start from last position on the grid, it was a successful move thanks to the team. They did an incredible job, and before leaving Emilio [Alzamora] calmed me, telling me not to look to the bike, not to think about it – the bike would be fine and I had to relax and focus, and forget what had happened.

On the grid, I steadied those nerves and concentrated especially hard, and because of that I made a very good start. The rest you saw! Third position wasn’t enough because I was with Nico Terol and Bradley Smith, my two big rivals, and them staying in front could have spelled big trouble, so I decided to shoot up, pass and overtake both Smith and Nico as I didn’t know if Smith would try to pass me again.

Crossing the finish line, I exploded with joy, and the entire team, too. It was a special win, with good reason, after such a stressful grand prix… I can’t thank the team enough. Thanks to them, we could fix my rookie mistake!

Now we have to think about Cheste. You have seen how it is going, but until we cross the finish line there, nothing is decided. We must continue working to end the season well in Cheste, and achieving the objective we set ourselves earlier this year.

Greetings to everyone – see you in Cheste!

Marc
