Listenupsa.co.za has come to an end. The website, founded several years back, concentrated on exposing the world to South Africa's diverse and talented DJing scene. With no specific focus on genre, the site regularly posted DJ mixes from around the country, parading everything from house to drum n bass to hip-hop and everything in between. Many of the DJ mixes recorded in the studio, along with the live mixes from the various Red Bull Studio Live stages, were reposted on ListenupSA thereby opening up the artist's talents to a much wider audience.
Sadly ListenupSA has hung up its proverbial headphones to move onto other things. Although this is not a bad thing, nothing lasts forever after all, it will be sad to see the site, which has cultivated and nurtured local DJing culture for some time, no longer riding the cyber soundwaves. We salute its achievements and are ever grateful for what it contributed.
So you know, Matthew Gray, the founder of the site, is still on the the musical up and up with his new endeavour, "Digital Project". With a much stronger focus on progressive and nu-skool breaks, in terms of genre, the website looks fresh and ready to continue on the legacy of ListenupSA.
