For us as at the Red Bull Studio, one of the artists to really stand out this year, and who seemed to come out of nowhere, was Jumping Back Slash. He has become part of the Studio family both as a music producer and a friend.
His sound is as infectious as his personality, and as a "foreigner" hailing from England originally, his passion for South Africa and its rich cultural heritage oozes through his music and his daily life.
If you are not familiar with JBS's tracks, you need only type his name into the Google bar, go to his Soundcloud Page and / or fan him on Facebook to realise how deep the musical rabbit-hole goes. With international releases, testimonials from some of the top artists from around the world as well as increasing recognition locally, JBS is steadily becoming a fixture in pushing South African music to the global market.
His track made at the Studio and released exclusively on our Soundcloud is a testament to his excellent quality as a producer. Strong overtones of African influence and shuffle, hints of early Acid House, peppered with nostalgic, anthemic vocals - "Not Over" is the final exclusive track produced at and for the Cape Town Studio and it marks a prolific year for us.
