Dirty Paraffin have been bubbling under the pot for long enough now. It almost feels like nothing else can happen except for the lid to be blown open internationally for this Durban duo now living in Jozi. Although there have been well placed features on them in many magazines around the world including Cuss and Dazed and Confused, with frontman Okmalumekoolkat working extensively with Spoek Mathambo, Gervase from LV and many others, it doesn't seem like Dirty Paraffin have been afforded the acclaim they are due - but this is all about to change.
Their debut EP, having gotten its kick off at Red Bull Studios CT is about to drop and its blend of masterful, tongue in cheek lyricism and bare, shapely, stripped down beats is a wicked combination of Drum Machine Techno influence and African swagger. 'koolkat is a South African wordsmith of the highest order, and the references and snippets of slang are copious, ensuring repeat listens aplenty. Spizee's production style is fresh and uncluttered, pooling so many influences into this 5 track EP that it's a sure-fire winner.
