Williams was fifth after the first lap as Odendaal lead and gradually moved up the order until he he took the lead with five laps remaining.
Caleb Williams hails from Boksburg and although he's only 16, he has a decade of karting experience behind him.
He also has a string of titles behind his name, after starting in Cadet karts in 1999 and winning the title in 2000.
The move up to GP juniors saw a best result of third place in the Nationals, but success followed with a move to the much more potent Mini Max Class in 2005, winning the class in 2006. In that year he also competed in Junior Max, and a second place in that category saw him experience his first international event at the Rotax Max Challenge World Finals in Portugal.
In 2007 he won the Junior Max SA championship and again represented South Africa at the World Finals in El Ain. He led the final race for seven laps before ending on the podium in third place, a fine achievement for a youngster who was just 14 years old at the time.
In 2008 Caleb won the Regional Max Challenge, and also competed in the KF2 National Championship. He competed in Italy in the KF2 World Championship but was knocked off the track early on.
Caleb, who goes into Grade 11 at CBC Boksburg next year, says the DD2 Class, with its unique twin-speed gearbox, is super quick and presents its own unique karting challenge.
"You have to be very precise on the downshift not to upset the kart. I'm so excited about Egypt, and I think I can do really well there. I came third in Junior Max a few years back, and this time I can think I can take it."
