He is the the Wunderkind of Berlin’s Flying Steps Crew: Lil Ceng. Ahead of his challenge at the BC One 209 he talks about his preperation, his opponents and NYC-Shopping.
Lil Ceng, next week you will be in New York competing at the Red Bull BC One. I assume you are in the middle of your preperations.
Yes, i have been practising for quite a while now. During the last weeks we (the Flying Steps) spent most of the time on tour in Canada and Ireland, but the final days i will only focus on New York.
What does your day look like?
First thing in the morning i go jogging, do pushups and situps. Fitness is very import in breakdancing. After some more warm-up i am going through my sets and spend most of the time at our Flying Steps Dance Academy in Kreuzberg here in Berlin.
Do you also look after your nutricion?
Of course. I make sure not to eat too much bread, lots of meat or salads and fruit. When i am on the road a lot, it’s hard to keep an eye on what I eat, but at home i cook myself with my Flying Steps collegue and room-mate Benny.
What do you do at night?
Same thing, training and if i really want to relax, go out for a party!
Can you tell us some moves that you will show in New York?
Hard to say, because i don’t know yet who i will be up against. The first round will be drawn the day before the battle, but i have to be prepared for everything. I also have to see which moves to perform in which round, but Round 1 is really tough.
When do you decide what your routine will look like?
The day before, when i find out who will be my opponent in the first battle. I have studied all of their styles and moves and know their tricks. Each dancer has their own strength and i have my way of defeting them!
What are your strengths?
I am really good with powermoves, and practised a lot in the dancing and fluent flips and steps.
Who is going to be the toughest B-Boy to battle?
Well, everyone is amazing. The Koreans are crazy though. They are so perfect and well prepared and i am looking forward to Cloud from the US.
Last year you made it to the semi-finals...
In the first moment it was hard to loose, because i really wanted to win. I wasn’ t prepared perfectly, like i am this year!

Aside from the BC One, what are you looking forward to?
Honestly, some shopping! From what i hear it’s a perfect place for sneaker-shopping. It’s really exciting to travel there, since it’s the britplace of breakdancing.
