2011 Crews
The 2011 crews were the first to showcase their skills on the Red Bull Beat Battle Stage. They were made up of eight teams who perfromed s'bhujwa, pantsula, Hip Hop, krump, break-dance and freestyle.
Johannnesburg Hip Hop Crew Artistic Intelligence danced away with the title of Red Bull Beat Battle champs. They had to fend off Cape Town b-boys Ubuntu to take the win in a hard fought finale.
The other six crews who made up the final eight included three Soweto crews Afro Tribal (freestyle), Soweto's Finest (s'bhujwa) and Shakers and Movers (pantsula). Another pantsula crew which set the stage on fire was Real Actions, from Orange Farms, just south of Johannesburg.
Gauteng crews made up the bulk of the finalists but Durban and Cape Town represented with crews inspired by the Hip-Hop street dance, krump. Genesis Kings hailed from Durban; while Cape Towm was represented by The Royal Fam Kings.
